New Church Picture Directory, March 5th & 6th, 11th-13th, and 16th-20th
During March we will be taking photos for a new picture directory of All Saints-by-the-Sea. Our last directory was very popular and we get regular calls for more, but the pictures need updated, along with much of the contact information.
You may reserve your stop by either going online to: https://signup.olanmills.com/familyinfo.aspx?chcontract=41918 or you can reserve your slot using paper sign-ups at the Welcome table.
If you sit for a picture you will receive a free copy of the directory when it is published and receive a copy of one of the pictures taken during your session (it does not have to be the same one that goes in the church directory) at no cost.
All Saints’ Annual Meeting and Potluck is on Sunday, February 21 after the 10:00 am service. New vestry members will be elected at the annual meeting - you can see their pictures and biographies on the bulletin board on the patio after this service. Please sign up to bring potluck items for finger food!
Dr. Maria Khoury - West Bank Christian coming to ASBTS
Thursday, February 18th , 12:00 noon
Dr. Maria Khoury is a Palestinian Christian, raised in Denver, who moved with her husband in 1995 to Taybeh, the only all-Christian town in the West Bank. She is active in “peace with justice” issues and has spoken in over 70 U.S. churches. She has written several books including Witness in the Holy Land as well as nine children’s books promoting ancient Christian values.
We are fortunate to have the opportunity to hear Dr. Khoury at All Saints on Thursday, February 18. She will be speaking up and down the California coast, and has made time to be with us midday. We plan to treat her to our Santa Barbara special: build-your-own tostadas in our Parish Hall.
Please sign up on the patio or contact Karen Telleen-Lawton (563-8978) with questions. Our speaker comes thanks to our participation with the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem (AFEDJ).
Holy Baptism
The next opportunity for baptism at the church will be during the Easter Vigil, on Saturday, April 3rd.
Do You Have Your Nametag?
If you have one of our magnetic nametags, please do wear it on Sunday mornings. Wearing our nametags helps newcomers recognize long-time members and helps us all get to know one another better. If you haven't got a nametag, we'll be happy to order you one at no cost; just neatly print your name on the sign-up sheet at the Welcome Table on Sunday, then be sure to wear it once it arrives.
Morning Prayer Through Lent, 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., Wednesdays
Please remember that, starting tomorrow, as a part of our Wednesday Adult Forum classes, we will be offering Morning Prayer on Wednesday mornings throughout Lent. This is a chance to learn how to follow Morning Prayer for your own use throughout the year, or simply to use as a Lenten discipline.
Soup and Cookies Needed!
Great news - we now have a dedicated freezer for Sunday morning Refreshment Table cookies. This means that you can bring a batch of treats anytime, leave them in a tupperware in the freezer and know that you've done your part in supporting our 11:00 a.m. coffee hour. This new system copies our existing way of gathering soup donations for the Eventide service - the only difference is the location of the freezer. For soup, use the chest freezer in the Parish Hall, and for cookies look in the pantry off the Parish House kitchen. |
