Worship and Music at All Saints
We gather in worship here
 |
• to glorify God, who is known to us as the Trinity: Father,
Son and Holy Spirit;
• to give thanks for God’s boundless love and goodness
towards us;
• to pray for the fulfillment of the mission of the Church,
which is the restoration of all people to unity with God and each
other in Christ;
• to be strengthened by God’s word and sacraments for
the mission to which we are called; and
• to enjoy the fellowship of one another.
Music
We are striving to build a comprehensive, multi-generational music
program, and new programs are always being considered as we seek
to enrich our common worship with the best music available to us.
Our music ministries are rooted in the great sacred music of the
Episcopal/Anglican tradition (which, in turn, also draws on Lutheran,
Methodist and Roman Catholic sources), yet we understand our tradition
to be a lively one, and we seek to incorporate musical languages,
new and old, that reflect the richness of God’s people.
The heart of our musical life is congregational singing of hymns,
psalms and service music. Our choirs and other musicians enhance
our liturgy as they draw us all (through active, prayerful listening)
into their musical offerings.
We involve parishioners and neighbors in our musical life through
educational offerings and fellowship events (e.g., discussion groups
and hymn-sings), and by nurturing the sacred musical arts in the
Santa Barbara community through the involvement of music students
and others in our worship and in specialized musical concerts.
